BIM Training and BIM Coalition

Online BIM Training by Real World Experts

At BIM Coalition, we believe it is important for training to occur by someone who understands the challenges design professionals face on a daily basis.

We find it astonishing how many training centers provide training on architectural, engineering, or construction software by someone who has never used the software in a production environment. What's even more amazing is that these individuals often have not even worked or been educated in a remotely related field. They have been trained to train software, but do not truly speak our language or understand our workflow and process.

At BIM Coalition, we use experts with real world experience to provide training that is unmatched in our industry. Our trainers have worked in our field, and applied BIM software to enhance our workflows and processes. Some have now dedicated themselves to providing the training needed to actually improve your productivity, while other expert trainers still practice on a daily basis and share their experiences by providing training whenever possible. In either situation, your trainer will be an expert who has faced similar challenges and understands how to actually apply the software in real world environments.

BIM Training you need, when you need it

At BIM Coalition, we believe it is important to get the training you need, when you actually need it, and we understand the exact topics and timing of that training differs for everyone. Most training training centers out there require your to leave your office and ongoing projects for several days just for a 'beginner' training. They cram as much as they can into three or four days (depending on the software) and then send you back to the office, expecting you to return again for 'advanced' training. This information overload often results in newly trained users not really knowing where to start. Worst yet, they were trained on parts of the software they will forget how to use before they actually get a chance to use it. This 'one-size-fits-all' method of training continues to fail over and over again.

At BIM Coalition, we provide training in short manageable classes, typically one or two hours, not days in length. For the most part, classes do not have to be taken in any particular order. This means, after a quick overview of the software, you can take one or two hour classes related to your next actual tasks. In this situation, there is no time and money wasted attempting to relearn something you were trained on months before. This allows you to selectively learn the pieces of the software you actually need. It also allows you to spread the billable time lost during training over a much more manageable time period. You now have the option of taking as many classes as you can fit in in a week, or spending a couple hours a week, either during business hours, in the evenings, or even on weekends - which ever speed meets your needs and budget.

Types of Online Training

At BIM Coalition, we understand that everyone learns differently. To accommodate this, as well as budgets and time, we provide the following classroom environments for most of our BIM training courses.

Follow Along Step-by-Step Online Training

This remote classroom environment directly simulates a typical training lab environment. The classes are at a slower pace to allow the instructor to demonstrate something and then you to try it out for yourself. Just like the training lab environment, the instructor also has the ability to see your screen, take control of it, and even share it with the rest of the class.

Live Lecture with Q & A Online Training

This remote classroom environment directly simulates a typical classroom environment. In these classes, the trainer demonstrates the topics at hand. At any point you can raise your virtual hand to ask a question or send in a question through the chat interface. These classes are short and to the point, while covering the complete topic - the perfect productive break for your day.

Post Lecture Lab Online Training

This remote classroom environment directly simulates a typical training lab environment. These classes are for individuals who have already attended the Live Lecture (or watched the recording) and now which to test their skills with an expert's overview. Our remote training software allows the instructor to see your screen. They can even take control of or share your screen with the entire class! (with your permission of course!)

On Demand Recorded Lecture

Help! It's 10PM and I need to finish this by the morning! Sign up and instantly have access to the recorded sessions, with the ability to jump right to the part of the lecture you need. This is the most economical method of learning however there is no live instructor to answer your questions. Also perfect for the individual who can can't carve out enough time to actually attend the live lecture. Pair these recordings with a Post Lecture Lab, and you have the perfect affordable mix of training.

Custom Remote BIM Training OptionS

Over-The-Shoulder, One-On-One Remote Training

Are you too busy to sit through a classroom environment? Do these classes more too fast or slowly for you? Or perhaps you need to perform a specific task, and only need training in the related areas? Maybe you just need help applying the lessens learned to your project tasks at hand.

We can help with our remote 'over-the-shoulder' training and support.

Like the lab environment above, we can see each other's screens, however it's just you and the trainer, for dedicated training and support.

Pay by the hour, or save by setting up a regularly scheduled training session.

We even offer this type of service to entire firms!

Custom Remote Training Classes

At BIM Coalition, we don't train from a book written by some software programmer. We put together our own curriculums and apply our real world experience.

If there is a piece of software or particular topic you would like to see a training class in, let us know!

We have setup custom curriculums for a particular firms workflow, processes, and templates. (and help identify and create them if necessary!) We have written focused curriculums for firms or even specific users in a firm. Consider how much billable time is lost when compared to the cost of a boxed lunch or pizza?!?

Dedicated Remote Classes

Our classes are priced for an individuals attendance. If you would like to have a dedicated class for your office, or show a lecture to a conference room of professionals, please contact our training department for pricing.
